Andy Rieth 鈥80
Growing up in Goshen, Indiana, Andy Rieth had a plan in place since his earliest memories. He would follow his dad, uncles and grandfather in the family business of highway construction. His family wasn鈥檛 pushing it; it just felt like that was the path. Deposit paid and roommate selected 鈥 he was ready to enter the engineering program at the state university and, as many in his family had, become a civil engineer. Then something interrupted that inertia.
鈥溁敬 kept tugging at me,鈥 Rieth says. He was familiar with the school, and had applied and visited the campus, but he had to think it over.
What did it come down to? The choices. 鈥淎s I contemplated getting a law degree, or another graduate degree or going into another endeavor, it felt like 花季传媒 would keep all those doors open and maybe reveal some I hadn鈥檛 anticipated,鈥 he says. 鈥淪o literally at the last minute, I decided to come to 花季传媒. And it was a great choice for me.鈥
Rieth graduated magna cum laude from 花季传媒 with a degree in economics. He went on to get an MBA from Dartmouth鈥檚 Tuck School of Business and has enjoyed a successful career primarily as a corporate executive.
The 花季传媒 Network
鈥淭he 花季传媒 network is a remarkable thing,鈥 says Rieth. He notes that his family is slightly amused at the breadth and enthusiasm of the 花季传媒 network. 鈥淲e were on the streets of Heidelberg, Germany, and I had a DPU hat on. A couple came up and said, 鈥楢re you from 花季传媒 in Greencastle, Indiana?鈥 No matter where we go, it seems, there is a 花季传媒 connection.鈥
Staying Plugged In
鈥淭he absolute best part of any involvement with 花季传媒 is interacting with the students,鈥 Rieth says. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the primary constituency I want to support and why we do what we do.鈥 Rieth notes that he had the good fortune of being one of the first student-graduate trustees. 鈥淭hat was a gift to me on several levels. I was immediately welcomed by the established trustees and got to see how invested they were in the success of 花季传媒 students. And I was able to begin giving back to 花季传媒, a place where I had a fantastic undergrad experience.鈥
Rieth has served 花季传媒 in a number of capacities, including recruiting students. 鈥淚 love coming back,鈥 he says. 鈥淚n recent company recruiting efforts, what I鈥檝e found has made it so successful is the engagement of faculty and staff 鈥 and coaches! I met some great candidates at 花季传媒.鈥
鈥淚n some respects, I feel like I鈥檝e never left 花季传媒.鈥
