Rev. Dr. Maureen Knudsen Langdoc University Chaplain and Associate Dean
Maureen serves as University Chaplain and Associate Dean, providing leadership and strategic direction for spiritual and religious life at »¨¼¾´«Ã½. Her scholarly work focuses on ethics, moral formation, cultural criticism and Wesleyan theology. Recent publications include ""Ìý¾±²ÔÌýThe Routledge Companion to John Wesley, , and "" Maureen earned degrees from Greenville College (BA), Duke University (MDiv; certificate in "Gender, Sexuality, Theology and Ministry") and King's College London (PhD). A recipient of a Fulbright grant, she is ordained United Methodist clergy and a John Wesley Fellow. Maureen lives in Greencastle with her husband, the Rev. Bryan Langdoc, and four children. Together, they enjoy traveling, cheering on the Tigers, and family movie nights.Â
Rev. Jonathan Martin Associate Chaplain and Director of the Center for Spiritual Life
Jonathan serves as Associate Chaplain and Director of the Center for Spiritual Life. He is the author of The Road Away from God, How to Survive a Shipwreck, and Prototype. He holds degrees from Gardner-Webb University, Pentecostal Theological Seminary (MA) and Duke University (ThM). He speaks at conferences, universities, seminaries, retreats, and churches. His work and/or words have been featured in places like the New York Times, The Atlantic, NPR, Newsweek, Vox, Sojourners, The Huffington Post, Relevant Magazine, and The Journal of Pentecostal Theology.
Imam Ahmed Alamine Muslim Life Advisor
Imam Ahmed Alamine is director of religious affairs at the Indianapolis Muslim Community Association (IMCA), and imam of its mosque, Masjid Al-Fajr, the Mosque of the Morning Prayer, the oldest continuously operating Sunni Muslim mosque in the city dating from the 1970s. In 2020, he was sworn in as the first Muslim Police Chaplain in the history of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He also serves as chaplain with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Born in Saudi Arabia, Imam Alamine grew up in Medina, the city where in 622 CE the Prophet Muhammad sought refuge from Mecca and established the first Islamic government.
Rabbi Bruce J. Pfeffer Jewish Life Advisor
Rabbi Bruce J. Pfeffer was born in the Bronx, New York; grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey; graduated from the University of Bridgeport, in Connecticut; and worked as an Industrial Engineer. He went back to school and was ordained rabbi at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio (2000), and earned the qualification of board certified chaplain (2007). He currently works at IU Health and ARN Hospice.
Rabbi Pfeffer began teaching Religious School and Hebrew school while he was a rabbinical student. He enjoys challenging his students in all areas, such as their understanding of the world, of Jews, of Hebrew and of God.
He is past vice-president of the Marion County Master Gardener Association, where he learned to be a volunteer auctioneer. He is a baker of bread, maker of yogurt, and student (and sometimes teacher) of crochet, origami, haiku and book-binding.
Rabbi Pfeffer and his wife, Dr. Amy Beth Kressel, have two wonderful children.
